Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., born Henry John Deutschendorf from Roswell located in the state of New Mexico,, fell in Love with Colorado. The place he settled was Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be inducted. Today, he is Colorado's international image. If you travel with me, you may meet people at the other side of the world. As an example, you might meet someone from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're from Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working within small Folk Music groups. The song was written with Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver knew from the first moment he listened to the first versions of the song that it would be a big popular. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
