John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of which are situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the top musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. Denver was the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state to people around the world. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other part of the globe, one from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief period of performing with small folk-based bands comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential after hearing it first. The song was recorded a couple of days after playing in Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
